Nurse Practitioner volunteers provide advanced clinical care to our patients. NP’s conduct thorough assessments of patients, diagnose and manage health conditions, and develop comprehensive treatment plans under the supervision of our Medical Director.

Patient Care: Assist in providing direct patient care under the supervision of our medical providers, Clinic Manager, and Medical Director, including assessing patient needs, administering vaccinations, and helping to perform basic medical procedures
Clinical Support: Help with routine clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, rooming patients, dressing wounds, and collecting patient histories
Documentation: Update patient charts accordingly, adding vaccinations, vital signs, and lab work results as needed
Medical Supplies: Assist with organization and restocking of medical supplies and equipment to ensure availability of necessary resources
Administrative Duties: Aid Clinic Manager with updating patient records, scanning documents into charts, filling out referral paperwork, and helping with our prescription assistance program as needed
Coordination: Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care and communicate any concerns or changes in patient condition
Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines

California NP license
-
At least 21 years of age
Vaccinated for Covid
Can provide proof of a negative TB test within the last 6 months
Can commit to a minimum of 6 consecutive months volunteering (two, four hour shifts per month)
Can commit to in person orientation and trainings at 35 Onondaga Ave, San Francisco

Empathy: ability to provide empathetic and compassionate care to patients, addressing their needs and concerns with sensitivity
Passion: Strong desire to help heal the community with a deep understanding of the Clinics Mission
Communication: strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members
Confidentiality: Understanding and adherence to HIPAA regulations
Teamwork: ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers, nurses, and other staff
Mentorship: interest in mentoring and teaching students, with a passion for supporting the next generation of medical professionals
Comfortability using computers including medical scheduling software
