To be eligible for dental services, you must meet the eligibility requirements of Clinic By the Bay AND be an active medical patient at Clinic By the Bay

Dental Services Offered

Intraoral X-rays
At the first appointment, a full set of intraoral dental x-rays will be taken to allow our dentist to diagnose any tooth, gum, or bone issues

Dental Examinations
After x-rays, our dentist will conduct a comprehensive dental examination to create a treatment plan with you

Adult Dental Cleanings
After the initial examination, our team will prescribe and provide the necessary dental cleaning (Adult Prophylaxis or Scaling & Root Planing)

Preventative Treatments
Topical fluoride treatments will be provided along with oral hygiene instructions to support your home dental routine

Simple Fillings
Areas of mild to moderate tooth decay can be treated with simple dental fillings (white or silver colored)

Simple Extractions
Teeth with severe bone loss or severe tooth decay can be treated with dental extractions
Dental services not offered:
Teeth replacement: dentures, bridges, implants, crowns
Surgical extractions: impacted wisdom teeth
Periodontal surgery
Root canal treatments
Temporomandibular joint treatments (TMJ)
Orthodontic treatment: aligners, retainers, braces
Cosmetic dentistry: teeth whitening, veneers
Dental FAQs

All patients who have passed Eligibility Screenings through Clinic by the Bay are eligible for free dental services. All dental patients must be seen by medical at least once a year to remain eligible for free dental services
Due to dental care being in high demand, we are currently prioritizing patients with documented chronic diabetes disease management

Our dental clinic at will be open on Wednesdays from 10am-5pm with plans to open on Thursday in the future

Our dental team is made of California licensed dentist/dental hygienist volunteers, dental students, and dental residents.
Any students or residents providing dental care will be directly supervised by a licensed dentist

Our free clinic is volunteer powered meaning our volunteer dentists and hygienists may not work every clinic session. You may have a different provider each dental visit and at this time we are unable to guarantee seeing the same provider

While we try to prioritize patients who have dental pain and do save one emergency dental appointment slot per dental clinic day for dental examination and x-rays, we cannot guarantee same day dental treatment.

You can be seen at our clinic for preventative and basic dental care however the following procedures are not available at our clinic:
teeth replacements including: dentures or implants
root canal treatments
braces, appliances or retainers
crowns or bridges
TMJ treatments

If you require specialty dental care, our team will give you a referral for a dental specialist. As we work to build a specialist network to provide pro bono specialist care, there is no guarantee of free services.
