Food Security Program
Clinic by the Bay’s Food Security Program offers robust resources to support our patients secure nutritious food items and produce. See below for the types of programs below! CalFresh Application Assistance
CalFresh is a state-funded program that provides monthly food benefits to low-income individuals and families. Qualified members are given an EBT card, which acts as a debit card and can be used at various local grocery stores and farmers markets to purchase groceries. The amount of benefits a household receives is dependent on household size, income, and monthly expenses, such as housing and utilities. Members of the Food Security team can assist patients in submitting their applications to their local counties.
Bounty Box Deliveries
Every Sunday, clinic volunteers hand-deliver free bounty boxes straight to our patients’ doorsteps. These boxes are packed with various grocery items, which can range from fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, pasta, snacks, and kitchen supplies such as Ziploc bags. Food Pharmacy
Clinic by the Bay’s Food Pharmacy is a comprehensive, clinically-based food program that promotes and enables nutritious eating for patients with chronic conditions. Patients will receive a box of fresh produce every Saturday in front of the Clinic, along with nutrition and health education. Patients will also have the opportunity to connect with health coaches to support them in managing their health goals. Sample items in the box include zucchini, strawberries, avocados, spinach, and a whole chicken.
Food Voucher Program
The Food Voucher program is a new initiative to help our patients better access healthy food. Patients receive twelve $10 vouchers to use at a local grocery store to buy healthy food. Patients receive four vouchers at the start of each month, for a total of $40 for the month, and can decide how much they want to spend at once. The vouchers expire at the end of each month. The program lasts 3 months. Vouchers can be redeemed at San Francisco Farmers Market, 4929 Mission St., San Francisco, CA 94112.
