Medical Scribe volunteers assist healthcare professionals by documenting patient interactions and medical information during clinical visits. This role is essential in allowing our providers to focus their attention on giving care rather than typing. Scribes help ease that stress by taking accurate, efficient, and detailed notes.

• Documentation: Accurately document patient encounters including medical history, examination findings, diagnosis, treatment plans, and any other relevant information as directed by the provider

• Assisting Providers: Help providers input patient information in our EMR, type post visit notes, and print notes for patients as needed

• Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines

• At least 18 years of age

• Vaccinated for Covid

• Can provide proof of a negative TB test within the last 6 months

• Can commit to a minimum of 6 consecutive months volunteering (two, four hour shifts per month) 

• Can commit to in person orientation and trainings at 35 Onondaga Ave, San Francisco

• Medical Terminology: basic understanding of medical terminology and abbreviations 

• Words per Minute: must be able to type at least 55 WPM

• Communication: excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to accurately transcribe and summarize information 

• Confidentiality: Understanding and adherence to HIPAA regulations

• Ability to maintain professional etiquette during patient visits 

• Comfortability using computers including medical scheduling software

• Teamwork

• Tuesdays

  • 11:30am-4pm

  • 4pm-8:30pm

• Thursdays

  • 9:30am-1:30pm

  • 1:30pm-6pm

Admin Days: 

• Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays
