Free Clinic in San Francisco Announces New Executive Director
Clinic by the Bay under new leadership
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, March 14, 2017. Clinic by the Bay, one of San Francisco’s leading free clinics providing healthcare to the working uninsured, has announced the selection of David Wallace, M.Ed as its new executive director. Wallace was selected after a national search and selection process. He stepped into the role on February 16th.
“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” reported Janet Reilly, Clinic by the Bay Co-founder. “David will bring leadership and inspiration to the clinic’s highly-talented and dedicated staff, as well as a deep sense of commitment to our community. He truly understands the value and uniqueness of our largely volunteer-based workforce, and I am confident he will help ensure the clinic continues to best serve our patients and our community in the rapidly changing world of healthcare delivery.”
David has served nonprofit and volunteer organizations at program, fundraising, executive and leadership levels, and has an impressive breadth of perspective and experience. His resume includes more than 20 years in leadership positions at various non-profits, serving communities in need, and working with volunteer groups worldwide. His career has been dedicated to serving a vast array of constituencies, including individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, queer youth, the working poor, at-risk youth, and the Black community around HIV/AIDS. Prior to this appointment, David was the Director of Management & Operations for the Peace Corps in Lesotho, and from 1997–1999 he was a volunteer with the Peace Corps in Kazakhstan.
“I look forward to continuing to serve our uninsured population and partner with this community’s many local organizations that allow Clinic by the Bay to provide more than just healthcare to our patients,” remarks Wallace. “As we await the actions and impact of a new presidential administration, we will continue to meet the demands created if the Affordable Care Act is repealed or restructured in a way that create gaps within our community. Even in the face of these changes, the clinic will continue to be 100% free to our patients, 100% donor funded and volunteer-powered while maintaining a level of care that rivals our neighborhood for-profit hospitals.”
